Tan Sook Yen is a graduate from the University of Malaya with a degree in Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 2008. She was called to the Bar on 18th May 2009.
While reading law, Sook Yen did her internship with Messrs Lee Ong & Kandiah and was exposed to a variety of general conveyancing works in real estate, banking and finance related matters during her period of internship.
Sook Yen subsequently did her pupillage at Messrs Lee Choon Wan & Co. during which time she was also exposed to various matters relating to corporate and commercial transactions, legal, regulatory and corporate compliance, debt restructuring matters, schemes of arrangement, joint ventures and other corporate and commercial matters.
Upon completing her pupillage, Sook Yen joined Messrs Shui Tai in 2011 and was further exposed to various aspects of conveyancing and banking matters which included sale and purchase of residential and commercial properties by corporations or individuals, banking and finance documentation, tenancies, drafting of wills and general legal advisory works.
Sook Yen subsequently joined Messrs CY Ng & Tan as a partner before setting up Law Chambers of Y Tan.
Sook Yen is familiar with financing and end-financing required by corporations or individuals for various purposes. She also handles various aspects of general conveyancing matters and has also acted and advised clients on acquisition of properties by way of auctions as well as on matters relating to friendly loan agreements, settlement agreements, tenancies and drafting of wills.
