Chew Hoon Seng is a graduate of National University of Singapore with a degree in Bachelor of Science in 2008 and also a graduate of University of Malaya with a degree in Bachelor of Jurisprudence (Hons). He passed the Certificate in Legal Practice in year 2019 in first attempt. He was called to the Bar on 10th December 2020.
Prior to reading law, He worked as an assistant manager in Ixchange Pte Ltd (a subsidiary of Parkway Pantai Limited), a Third Party Administrator in which he led a team of claims administrators and was tasked with improving the operational efficiency.
He worked as a paralegal in Messrs Lee Lam & Tan and was exposed to conveyancing matters such as sale and purchase agreement (sub-sale) and loan while waiting for CLP results to be released.
He read in the Chambers of Messrs CW Loh & Associates in which he was exposed to various areas of law including notarization, general litigation (probate & administration matters, discharge of bankruptcy etc) will-writing and conveyancing matters (sub-sale, discharge and perfection). He had helped the foreigners especially those from China to locate their missing family members in Malaysia by liaising with the immigration officers from detention depots and police officers and had once successfully helped to locate and free a few foreigners who were illegally detained by their employer with prompt action from the police officers.
He joined Law Chambers of Y Tan as a Legal Associate in April 2021 and is currently handling corporate, conveyancing matters (subsale, developer’s project, perfection and loan), non-contentious matters (joint petition divorce, application of probate, letters of administration and application of order for sale) and drafting of various documents including tenancy agreement, will, power of attorney, deed of trust etc. He is very familiar with drafting of sale and purchase agreement as he deals very often with the opponent solicitors in fine-tuning and finalizing the sale and purchase agreement.
